Description & Requirements

We are looking for a highly detail-oriented Assembly and Finishing Editor to join Bloomberg Media’s Video team, specifically supporting the flagship program Wall Street Week. This role is the final line of defense for our broadcast and digital output. You will be responsible for taking edited segments and transforming them into a polished, technical compliant product for global distribution, broadcast, digital platforms, and social media.

This is a technical, process-driven role that requires a "surgical" approach to editing, where timing, audio mapping, and captioning accuracy are just as important as the visual narrative.

We’ll trust you to:
  • Master the Final Assembly: Execute the final stringout of long-form programs, ensuring all graphics are updated and network-specific branding (intros/outros) is correctly placed.
  • Oversee Captioning Workflows: Act as the primary liaison for the captioning process. This includes preparing technical proxies with timecode burn-ins, providing accurate metadata to external partners, and reintegrating caption files into the final deliverables.
  • Perform Rigorous Technical QC: Conduct frame-by-frame quality control for audio (specifically stereo and mono mapping), video integrity, and accuracy.
  • Coordinate Technical Verification: Work directly with broadcast engineering teams to verify file integrity and signal compliance before air or digital release.
  • Manage Multi-Platform Deliverables: Create and distribute versioned assets for Broadcast, Digital, and Social Media. This includes generating thumbnails, sidecar files, and chapter markers.
  • Own the Delivery Pipeline: Manage the "final mile" of production by navigating enterprise asset management systems and cloud delivery portals to ensure stakeholders receive assets on time.
  • Maintain Strict Standards: Ensure all filenames, metadata, and folder structures strictly adhere to internal and external distribution requirements.
You’ll need to have:
  • Post-Production Expertise: A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience in video post-production, with a focus on finishing and delivery.
  • Advanced Adobe Creative Suite Skills: Expert proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, specifically regarding complex sequence presets, multi-channel audio mapping, and captioning tracks.
  • Focus on Precision: The ability to spot a single-frame gap, a caption typo, or an audio imbalance in a long-form program.
  • Technical Literacy: A deep understanding of broadcast codecs, file transfer protocols, and the nuances of various captioning and subtitle formats.
  • Strong Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between creative editorial teams and technical engineering departments under tight deadlines.
  • Adaptability: Proficiency in both Mac and PC operating systems, with the ability to troubleshoot technical hurdles independently.
  • Flexibility: This role follows a production schedule that requires availability for specific delivery windows, which may include evenings, weekends, or holidays.
