With 70 economists and analysts and 200 economics and government reporters worldwide, Bloomberg has an outstanding capacity to explain where the world is economically and politically, where it might be heading, and the ways in which geopolitical and economic forces interact.

Bloomberg Economics offers a comprehensive macroeconomic research service for Terminal subscribers. That includes detailed forecasts, supported by thorough and original thematic research.

The role:

We are seeking an experienced Country Risk Analyst to join our country risk unit. You will be part of the Global Economics team, working at the intersection of quantitative risk modelling, country expertise, and real-time reporting. The role involves close collaboration with economists, geoeconomic analysts, and Bloomberg News reporters worldwide to expand and deepen Bloomberg’s country risk coverage.

We'll trust you to:

  • Work closely with Bloomberg’s regional economic analysists and reporters to develop the country risk framework
  • Develop and coordinate the production of country risk reports, combining model-based risk scores, geoeconomic expertise, and local reporting
  • Enhance and maintain Bloomberg Economics’ country risk models and indicators
  • Produce high-impact research across key dimensions of country risk (political, institutional, macro-financial, geopolitical)
  • Publish analysis on the Bloomberg Terminal and contribute to Bloomberg media, client engagement, and public-facing events

You'll need to have:

  • A degree in economics, political science, international relations, or a related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, ideally in country risk analysis, sovereign risk, or related fields
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and insightful analysis under tight deadlines
  • Strong project management and coordination skills, with experience working across teams
  • Strong foundation in quantitative and data science methods, with practical experience applying these techniques in real-world settings (Python experience preferred)
  • A solid understanding of country risk frameworks and products used by investors
  • Energy and initiative to produce high-quality country risk content across a range of different formats

We' love to see:

  • Experience in country risk analysis for institutions such as credit rating agencies, ideally with specific domain expertise covering economic or sovereign risk
  • A track record of leading or coordinating cross-functional research projects

If indicated, please note that years of experience are a guide; we will consider applications from all candidates who can demonstrate the skills necessary for the role.
