It's what keeps us inventing and reinventing, all the time. Our culture is wide open, just like our spaces. We challenge each other. And through our countless volunteer projects, we help bring out the best in our communities as around us, too. You can do amazing work here. Work you couldn't do anywhere else. It's up to you to make it happen.

Bloomberg delivers critical information in a world where information matters. We give influential decision makers in business, finance and government a competitive edge by connecting them to a dynamic network of news, people and ideas. To do that, we need a constant flow of ideas, energy and innovation-which is where you come in.

Bloomberg Digital is looking for a digital designer to help lead the art direction of digital special projects at Bloomberg. The ideal candidate has an eye for digital design across platforms, and they’ll be as comfortable art directing an editorial series as they are with hand-coding a story. You have experience commissioning illustrations or animations for a range of stories, from in-depth investigations to narrative features. You should be excited about new technologies, ready to roll with changing platforms, yet grounded in a passion for storytelling. You are organized, able to juggle short- and long-term projects, and able to deliver designs that supercharge our best stories with clarity and impact.

We'll trust you to:
  • Art direct and help build presentations to elevate our best journalism
  • Provide direction that helps supercharge our best stories with clarity and impact
  • Create and commission illustrations
  • Work closely with editors, reporters, and digital producers, building relationships with newsroom leads in both EMEA and APAC
  • Have an understanding and excitement for financial news, politics and general news
  • Be a self starter who can initiate and execute projects while working alongside the digital teams in both EMEA and APAC
  • Deliver your best work under pressure in a fast-paced newsroom, balancing multiple projects at a time

You'll need to have:
  • 3-5 years experience as a digital art director, preferably in a newsroom or editorial setting, with a proven history of delivering work on deadline
  • Excellent editorial judgment – you’ll know what makes a great story, how to workshop an idea with potential, and when to say no – and experience triaging and delivering work on a deadline in a fast-paced news environment
  • A thorough understanding of web best practices, including SEO, cross browser testing, and accessibility standards
  • Visual skills to tell stories through typography, layout, motion, and more, paired with the technical prowess to execute those ideas (HTML, CSS, and Javascript fluency)
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. You'll need to be flexible and calm while problem-solving under deadline
  • Familiarity with common web publishing technologies and systems, and experience with the Adobe suite and Figma
  • A deep network of illustrator and animator contacts
