Description & Requirements

Bloomberg News is one of the biggest financial and business news organizations in the world. We lead the way in breaking news and providing analysis of financial markets and big business, from daily coverage through to in-depth features. We are known for our quality, accuracy and ability to deliver news investors can use. It's what keeps us inventing and re-inventing.

We're looking for a sharp and dynamic reporter to join our Asia Business team in Seoul, with a focus on corporate coverage. South Korea is home to some of Asia's most innovative companies, spanning industries from large-scale batteries to biotech and skincare.

Korea is navigating a series of significant economic shifts driven by demographic challenges, technological transformation and global market dynamics. The country’s rapidly aging population and declining birth rate are putting pressure on the labor market and long-term economic growth. In response, Korea is increasingly investing in automation, AI and robotics to maintain productivity.

From Hyundai Motor, one of the world's largest automobile manufacturers, to EV battery makers LG Energy and SK On and consumer goods powerhouses like Lotte, Amorepacific and APR, we're looking for someone who can bring the K-story to an international audience at a time when the country's influence on the world stage has never been greater.

We're particularly interested in a candidate who can deliver stories across the spectrum, from scoops and fast-paced breaking news to quick turnaround analysis and long-term features, while working collaboratively with other teams. Multimedia experience and data analysis skills are a plus, though not a requirement. Bloomberg reporters are expected to contribute to visual and audio platforms as well, while data-led journalism has always been a signature of the newsroom.

We'll trust you to:
  • Build a deep corporate network and accurately and independently break news
  • Work with editors to develop ideas while bringing your own perspective to add depth and value
  • Use data analysis to identify exclusive story ideas and innovate with story formats while promoting diversity of thought and representation throughout our coverage
  • Build relationships across the newsroom to ensure our coverage captures the context of local developments while resonating with global audiences

You'll need to have:
  • At least 3 years of recent experience in business journalism
  • Experience working in a real-time news environment with demonstrable success
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Korean
  • Write quickly under pressure, with precision and style
  • An ability to cover a local beat but also see the big picture, especially with regard to the macro environment in Asia
  • Flexibility and a love of fast-paced working environments and constant change

Life at Bloomberg is many things, but it’s never dull. We’re a truly global business with a truly diverse workforce. We pride ourselves on being open, inclusive and collaborative, and provide a work environment that inspires our employees to be their best. We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive healthcare coverage, and programs to support you and your family through different life stages, from parental leave to generous retirement savings plans.
