Description & Requirements

Mexico is at a crossroads. President Claudia Sheinbaum is looking to stoke stoke local and foreign investment as the economy slows. US tariffs are roiling key sectors like autos and steel, and a review of the USMCA trade deal this year threatens to upend investment dynamics across North America. Chinese firms that were once openly pushing to grow their influence in the country are now advancing quietly. Meanwhile, Mexico's traditional business elite and newcomers alike continue to contend with issues like scarcity of security, water and electricity.

We're looking for a reporter who can pull all those themes together and write confidently for a global audience about the struggles and triumphs of companies in the world's biggest Spanish-speaking country, from Mexican powerhouses like America Movil, Femsa and Cemex, to international companies with major presence in the country.

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in earnings statements and balance sheets, able to wade through filings for the news buried in the footnotes, and comfortable working the room at conferences and building sources within the C-suite and the rank-and-file at large companies. The reporter will have a competitive spirit, collegial approach and relentless energy, and be prepared to work closely with journalists in Mexico and abroad who report on the economy and government, energy, the financial sector and more. To be considered, please submit your application by Thursday, June 4. Resumes must be submitted in English to be considered
