Bloomberg Media seeks an energetic and creative journalist and podcast producer to work on the ambitious podcast franchise, The Big Take, which includes a daily show and two weekly shows focused on Asia and Washington, DC. The narrative franchise, publishing 5 days a week, focuses on original, global and financial news.
The producer will work under the guidance of the Deputy Executive Producer, in collaboration with a larger, global editorial and production podcast team as well as alongside reporters and editors in Bloomberg’s wider newsroom.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for production of Big Take podcast episodes
- Responsible for writing episodes with guidance from editors and hosts as well as booking, pre-interviewing and prepping questions for hosts, editors and show leadership
- Responsible for pulling and producing tape and assembling episodes
- Expected to regularly pitch and develop episodes with Bloomberg reporters
- Steps into Senior Producer role as fill-in when needed
- Attends newsroom desk meetings to discuss episodes and communicate needs as needed
- Willingness to work outside of normal working hours, for occasional meetings with Hong Kong and London, other times zones or breaking news
Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of journalism experience Audio reporting or producing experience required Experience in Audition a plus; experience with audio editing programs required
- Demonstrated ability to write podcast episodes, identify strong tape and episode arcs as well as score episodes Strong communicator
- Must desire to work collaboratively with others
- Experience on a daily news show a plus Experience in writing narrative storytelling a plus
- Experience in business and financial news a plus
