Description & Requirements
We’re seeking a proactive, deeply experienced, and highly organized Senior Booking Producer to secure authoritative, agenda-setting voices and elevate coverage across Bloomberg’s platforms with a focus on The Mishal Husain Show. This role requires outstanding editorial judgment, sharp political instincts, and a demonstrated ability to build and sustain trusted relationships with senior leaders in U.S. politics, policy, government, business, and global affairs.
The ideal candidate brings a strong track record booking high-level political figures, a sophisticated understanding of U.S. and global political dynamics, and the credibility to engage confidently with principals, chiefs of staff, press secretaries, and senior advisors.
What You’ll Be Trusted To Do:
- Secure top-tier guests for live programming, including senior U.S. political leaders, policymakers, former and current administration officials, lawmakers, regulators, diplomats, economists, and global decision-makers tied to the day’s most consequential stories
- Leverage an established political and policy network—across Washington, federal agencies, campaigns, think tanks, and international institutions—to book authoritative voices quickly and reliably
- Serve as a trusted point of contact for high-level political figures and their communications teams, exercising discretion, sound judgment, and editorial clarity at all times
- Shape and elevate editorial direction by pitching sharp, news-driven interview ideas that connect politics, policy, markets, and global power dynamics
- Coordinate guest bookings across multiple Bloomberg platforms (TV, Radio, Digital, Weekend, Originals, Live Events), ensuring strategic alignment and avoiding editorial conflicts
- Work closely with producers, anchors, and editors to refine interview framing, sharpen lines of questioning, and ensure conversations are substantive, informed, and timely.
- Respond decisively to breaking political and policy news, identifying the most relevant voices under tight deadlines
- Conduct thorough research and pre-interviews, providing clear editorial context and concise briefing materials that support high-level interviews
- Write and edit concise, compelling scripts, briefs, and headlines in a fast-paced newsroom environment
- Manage multiple bookings, pipelines, and stakeholder communications independently, with consistent follow-through and attention to detail
What You’ll Need to Have:
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- 5+ years of experience booking live television or producing news, with a strong emphasis on U.S. politics, policy, or government coverage
- Demonstrated success booking senior U.S. political figures (e.g., Cabinet officials, lawmakers, governors, senior regulators, White House officials, or equivalent)
- Deep understanding of U.S. political institutions, policy debates, election dynamics, and their intersection with markets and global affairs
- An established and actively maintained network across U.S. politics, policy, and government communications
- Established relationships with leaders in entertainment, media and culture, with the judgment to identify and book relevant voices that intersect with politics, power, and global influence.
- Excellent editorial instincts, including the ability to identify newsworthy angles, anticipate competitive coverage, and book with intention
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders
- Proven ability to operate calmly under pressure, pivot quickly, and meet tight deadlines
- Strong organizational skills and reliability in managing complex booking workflows
- Flexibility with hours based on programming needs and breaking news
- A thoughtful, rigorous, and curious mindset, with a commitment to elevating political coverage through smart guest selection
