What is the role?
At Bloomberg Engineering & CTO Finance, we are committed to providing outstanding support to our business partners by delivering insight on business performance, financial oversight, and thought leadership. We are looking for a Finance Specialist to join our broader finance team supporting the Engineering and CTO organizations.
This role is heavily focused on employee-related financials, including compensation, hiring, and the full scope of costs associated with supporting headcount. You will play a key role in managing and analyzing Engineering headcount P&L as it relates to headcount, workforce planning, and technology-related spend tied to employees.
As a member of this team, you will deliver a unique blend of financial and operational analysis, financial modeling, standardized reporting, and senior management support in a fast-paced and innovative environment. A core component of the role will be driving consistency and rigor in reporting across month-end close, budgeting, and quarterly planning cycles.
We will trust you to:
- Provide ongoing financial and transactional support focused on Engineering headcount management and costs, including employee compensation, hiring plans, and all associated people-related costs
- Develop and maintain models focused on hiring forecasts, attrition, incremental headcount requests, location strategy, and entry-level training programs.
- Own and standardize reporting processes across month-end close, budgets, and quarterly reporting cycles, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
- Lead coordination of Engineering P&L reporting, ensuring a unified financial view across multiple spend categories and clear, standardized variance analysis in line with Corporate FP&A guidelines.
- Lead all aspects of financial reporting, analysis, and planning related to assigned P&L line items.
- Build and maintain benchmarks and business metrics tied to headcount, compensation, and Engineering spend.
- Partner closely with Engineering, HR, and Corporate FP&A to improve reporting accuracy, transparency, and efficiency.
- Support CFO-led strategic initiatives and contribute to broader business decision-making.
- Build tools and processes that support longer-term planning and scalability.
- Bring a positive, proactive attitude to a high-performing and collaborative team.
- Continuously expand your understanding of the Engineering organization, with opportunities to grow into areas such as Datacenters, Capital Planning, and Software Governance.
You will bring to the team:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in finance, with a strong focus on financial analysis.
- Proven experience managing or supporting P&L processes, particularly related to headcount, compensation, and workforce-driven costs.
- Advanced financial modeling and data visualization skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and partner across teams.
- Experience working autonomously and making decisions within scope.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to work across multiple departments and levels.
We would love to see:
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics.
- Experience in financial services or a financial data provider.
- Prior experience in a Technology Finance environment, particularly supporting Engineering organizations.
- Experience standardizing financial reporting processes across planning cycles (month-end, budget, quarterly).
- Familiarity with enterprise planning and reporting tools such as SAP or Oracle.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Qlik.
- Familiarity with the Bloomberg Terminal (preferred but not required).
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
