Description & Requirements
About Bloomberg Corporate Technology:
The Corporate Technology group is responsible for designing, deploying, and supporting Bloomberg’s internal IT systems. This includes our global corporate network plus all hardware, software, and the enterprise applications used by nearly 21,000 employees in more than 170 state of the art offices around the world. We focus on enterprise solutions, infrastructure automation, productivity tools, and IT systems integration which helps move all of Bloomberg's businesses forward.
The Role:
The Systems Engineering team within Corporate Technology builds a broad range of solutions that directly support the needs of the business. We partner with many internal teams to deliver secure, reliable, and highly automated services that underpin Bloomberg’s corporate environment. Operating primarily within a Windows-based enterprise ecosystem, our solutions are frequently built using .NET, but we choose technologies pragmatically based on the problem at hand, including working across different platforms and environments where appropriate. As Bloomberg continues to evolve toward cloud-based solutions, our work has expanded to include these technologies, further extending how we support and maintain the critical infrastructure that enables our clients to operate effectively.
You'll need to have:
- 4+ years experience building production services and automation in C# within a Windows-based enterprise environment
- Experience across all phases of the software development life cycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support
- Experience developing systems that automate, integrate with, or manage core infrastructure components such as servers, storage, telephony and policy-based configuration
- Experience designing and operating web and Windows services that integrate with other internal systems and platforms
- Experience working with relational databases in support of backend services and automation
- A solid understanding of fundamental networking concepts and how distributed systems communicate
- A strong understanding of Windows OS internals and how they relate to security, configuration, and system behavior
We would love to see:
- Experience programming in additional languages that are useful when solving some of the problems we face, such as Python, C++, Ruby, or Java
- Experience working within a large-scale IT or enterprise infrastructure organization, including operating and supporting production systems
- Familiarity with Active Directory and related identity, authentication, and authorization concepts
