Bloomberg News is seeking a journalist to lead our economics and government coverage across South Asia based in New Delhi. You will be responsible for shaping coverage across this vast region, leading a team covering everything from central bank policy moves and economic indicators to domestic political shifts and economic statecraft involving India, the US, China, Russia and other major powers.
You are comfortable headlining news as it breaks, quickfire editing, formulating coverage plans for set-piece political and economic events, spotting trends that shape the economic and political landscape, and directing a team of dedicated reporters and editors. You'll have big ideas, and the ability to implement them across a range of platforms, from the terminal to the web, magazines, podcast, video, blog and television.
We’ll trust you to:
- Demonstrate strong editorial judgment and drive agenda-setting stories
- Mentor, lead, motivate and inspire a team with a breadth of knowledge across Economics and Government, to deliver insightful and authoritative stories
- Work collaboratively across regional bureaus, groups and platforms to drive coverage that captures the context of local developments and the wider impact for global markets, international investors and companies
- Partner with the broader newsroom to write about themes such as climate change, inequality, labor markets, health, trade frictions, housing and the many other issues across the globe
- Coordinate with peers around the world to make sure we're using the best of Bloomberg
You'll need to have:
- At least 7 years of experience in business journalism
- At least 3 years of experience working in a real-time news environment
- Experience covering the economy, government or financial markets
- Ability to spot trends, find holes in stories and work with reporters to deliver impactful news to our readers
- Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization with leadership experience valued
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English
