Bloomberg's Open Source Program Office (OSPO) is seeking a visionary and strategic technical leader to join our growing team. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our open source strategy by leading critical initiatives across three core areas:

  • Open Source Governance & Compliance: Further develop our comprehensive open source compliance automation framework to minimize risk and streamline workflows for our engineers. Conduct research and analysis to identify emerging trends and best practices in open source governance, ensuring Bloomberg remains at the forefront of the industry.

  • Strategic Open Source Adoption: Develop and automate metrics to track the success of Bloomberg's open source initiatives, focusing on key areas like developer adoption, community engagement, and business impact. Analyze industry trends and identify strategic opportunities for open source software adoption that align with Bloomberg's overall business objectives.
  • Champion Internal Adoption: Drive strategic use of open source software across Bloomberg by developing internal programs, best practices, and resources for engineers. Act as a developer advocate for open source technologies within Bloomberg. This includes building awareness, creating educational content, and fostering a community of open source contributors and leaders. 

You'll need to have: 

  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong track record of contributing to and engaging with open source projects.
  • Possess a strong understanding of open source software principles, licenses,  governance frameworks, and best practices for responsible open source adoption and stewardship.
  • Have a singular drive to identify sources of developer and operational toil, and automate those things away strategically.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Be a strategic thinker with a proven ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Thrive in a collaborative environment and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain a passion for open source software and a desire to contribute to a growing open source program.

We'd love to see:

  • Experience developing and delivering technical training programs.
  • Experience automating software composition analysis, license detection and the various. software bills of materials standards (i.e. SPDX and CycloneDX).
  • Experience in community health metrics and analytics.

Salary Range = 240000 - 330000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
