Description & Requirements

Launched at COP28 in Dubai, the Global Capacity Building Coalition (GCBC) is an initiative whose aim is to significantly increase the availability and effectiveness of climate finance technical assistance programs for financial institutions and other stakeholders in emerging markets and developing economies.

Supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies, the Coalition brings together leading climate finance organizations – including UN agencies, multilateral development banks, standard setters, and private sector partners – to create synergies and respond to growing requests for capacity building support.

The GCBC focuses on areas such as:
  • Establishing knowledge-sharing mechanisms, training, and learning, e.g., via the GCBC platform
  • Identifying and supporting the uptake of global best practices and standards.
  • Accelerating and scaling high-potential sustainable finance capacity-building initiatives
  • Encouraging synergies and providing support to its members to enhance the delivery of sustainable finance capacity building support in EMDEs.

The Role
We are seeking a Project Associate to provide operational and programmatic support across the GCBC’s activities. This is a unique opportunity for someone early in their career to contribute to the Coalition’s impact by helping deliver effective programme management, stakeholder engagement, events, and communications.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Programme Director and the GCBC Leadership, providing day-to-day coordination and support across multiple workstreams.

We’ll Trust You To:
  • Support the GCBC Leadership and Programme Director across a wide range of programme and stakeholder activities, including:
  • Assisting with the coordination and delivery of GCBC programming, workshops, roundtables, and events.
  • Helping manage stakeholder engagement, including scheduling, preparing materials, and tracking partner interactions.
  • Supporting the governance and reporting processes of the Coalition, including preparing meeting packs and minutes.
  • Contributing to communications and engagement with coalition members, partners, and beneficiaries.
  • Maintaining project trackers, timelines, and documentation to ensure smooth programme delivery.
  • Providing general administrative and operational support to the GCBC secretariat.

You’ll Need To Have:
  • 3+ years of experience providing project or programme coordination, preferably in an international, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Exposure to climate, sustainability, development, or finance topics (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to balance multiple objectives.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, able to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach, with flexibility to work across a broad range of tasks.
  • Attention to detail and a strong sense of initiative.
  • Language skills would be advantageous, but not required.
