Bloomberg News is looking for a versatile and energetic editor to join our Ottawa bureau, helping to shape our coverage of government policy and the economy in Canada. We're looking for someone with excellent news judgment who can work closely with reporters and editors on tight deadlines to cut through jargon and explain what's really going on in Canada to a global audience.
The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of the Canadian economy and the major economic levers of the federal government and the provinces. Bloomberg News is one of the world's largest media organizations, and we want to tell the story of economic change in Canada in a compelling way to readers everywhere. This editor can expect to be involved in stories that will play prominently on the Bloomberg Terminal and on Bloomberg.com, and to collaborate with colleagues across our many bureaus, including those working for our TV and radio platforms.
We'll trust you to:
*Produce crisp and concise edits on stories that resonate with a wide audience
*Contribute to our reporting and cultivate sources
*Move fast, be accurate and think ahead. You'll be involved in stories from the critical first 15 minutes of breaking news all the way to in-depth features and analysis.
*Collaborate with colleagues across teams and regions
*Communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders and develop strong relationships with reporters and managers
You'll need to have:
*Several years of experience in economic, government or business coverage in a real-time news environment
*Strong writing skills and a creative sensibility
*Good people skills and a willingness to work across the organization
*A sense of urgency and an understanding of what Bloomberg readers want
*A track record of reliability
Expected Total Compensation = 115,000 - 145,000 CAD Annual + Benefits
The referenced range of expected total compensation is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
