Description & Requirements
Bloomberg is seeking an Operational Resilience Regional Engagement Lead to execute the firm’s resilience-related stakeholder engagement strategy for the EMEA region. A key member of the Global Operational Resilience Engagement team, the person in this role will work cross-functionally to ensure that information sharing and messaging to all core internal and external audiences about how Bloomberg prepares for and manages service disruptions is timely, accurate, and well-aligned to company objectives. Serving as the regional point person for communications during operational incidents on a follow-the sun basis, this person must act with authority during high-pressure and urgent situations.
Success in this position requires close partnership with colleagues in Product, Engineering, Information Security, Security Operations, Incident Management, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Corporate Communications, Government Relations and Client-facing teams. Strong business acumen and understanding of these partners’ priorities is a must. The ideal candidate brings product or technology crisis communications expertise, a collaboration-oriented work style, and the judgement to swiftly assess and execute as circumstances demand.
We’ll trust you to:
- Manage OpRes communication activities, including incident response messaging, proactive awareness campaigns, and post-incident updates across the company’s EMEA presence, in alignment with global strategy.
- Operationalize, maintain and educate regional colleagues on the OpRes Communications Playbook, including templates, trackers, and pre-approved messaging and communication playbooks for various incident types (e.g., engineering incidents, data breaches, malware, or physical security breaches).
- Coordinate incident response in partnership with incident management teams, including driving incident response calls, gathering facts, assessing impact, and determining the appropriate response strategy for internal and external audiences.
- Support stakeholder communications:
- Internal: Share clear updates on incident status, potential risks, and recommended actions with regional and global stakeholders.
- External: Provide timely and transparent information on impact, mitigation steps, resolution progress, and post-incident reports.
- Act as liaison across teams handling client, regulatory, and resilience-related communications to maintain consistent messaging under tight deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records of incident communication activities, including timelines, messages, approvals, and stakeholder feedback, ensuring global awareness and consistency in follow-the-sun scenarios.
- Drive Post-Incident Improvement: participate in after-action reviews to evaluate communication effectiveness and identify opportunities to refine playbooks and processes.
- Partner with Corporate Communications and Marketing colleagues to ensure Bloomberg’s reliability and commitment to resilience are accurately reflected in broader company narratives and channels.
You’ll need to have:
- 12+ years’ experience in technical or operational response within incident management, crisis communications or client-facing teams.
- Outstanding communication and judgement under pressure, with the ability to make sound decisions on limited information.
- Accountability to act with autonomy while contributing to a cohesive global team.
- Ability to distill technical information into clear, audience-appropriate messages.
- Experience in managing high stakes communications (with clients, regulators, and/or media) with calm and sound judgment.
- Expert organizational and project management skills, with the ability to track multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Experience working in a matrixed, global organization, with strong collaboration skills and proven ability to exercise influence in cross-functional teams.
We’d love to see:
- Familiarity of DORA, UK CTP regulations or similar financial regulatory frameworks.
- Experience in Regulatory or working on regulatory / compliance projects or programs.
- Strong collaborator who understands the complexity of engaging with multiple audiences and navigating their diverse interests and goals.
- Experience with risk and control management frameworks from a first and/or second line perspective.
